ACTIVE SHOOTER TRAINING

What You Should Know About Lock Down and Active Shooter Response

What is a Lock Down situation?  Why would one be called for?  In order to effectively execute a Lock Down in response to an intruder, active shooter or other threat at your site you need to have an understanding of the basics of what is happening and how to respond. This training is intended to provide the steps necessary to prepare your staff to implement effective strategies to respond to highly stressful situations at your workplace.  This class will increase your awareness and preparation for an active shooter situation.  Training is provided by Law enforcement experienced Instructors.

LOCKDOWN: ACTIVE SHOOTER RESPONSE 8 STEPS

STEP 1:  IDENTIFY THE THREAT

  • Type
  • Location

STEP 2:   INITIATE THE LOCKDOWN

  • Speak loud and clear
  • Repeat three times, slowly

STEP 3:  GET INSIDE, WHEN PRACTICAL

  • Pre-Plan hiding places invisible to the outside
  • If it’s safer to leave, don’t go in the building

STEP 4:   LOCK THE DOORS

  • Does the door open in or out
  • Be prepared to improvise

STEP 5:   BLOCK ALL WINDOWS

  • Hide the inside from the outside
  • Use whatever you have in the room

STEP 6:   STAY DOWN, STAY QUIET

  • Be prepared for a long lock down
  • Silence cell phones

STEP 7:   ANNOUNCE ALL CLEAR

  • The all clear must be specific
  • Repeat three times, slowly

STEP 8:   PREPARE IN ADVANCE

  • Be prepared to negotiate
  • Be prepared to fight back in necessary

Site Specific Training at your location can also include a one-hour security site assessment of the facility with report followed by a 2-hr ACTIVE SHOOTER training class taught by a Professional Law Enforcement officer.

Optional

Drills:  A drill is a great way to practice skills taught during the training.  We suggest any drill should be conducted at least a month after the training.  A pending drill can be announced on a Monday; stating an Active Shooter drill will take place sometime that week so people are prepared.  We will quote you on the drill after the instructor has completed the site assessment and the training.  There are a lot of elements he can discuss with you so we can make the proper decision on how to conduct the most effective Active Shooter Drill.
